Exhibitions, films, performances, talks: The third edition of Forum expanded opens on February 8, at 10 p.m. at Filmhaus Potsdamer Platz with, among others, the Green Porno installation by Isabella Rossellini, Jody Shapiro, Rick Gilbert and Andy Byers and the CHEAP Gossip Studio.
Ahead of the official opening on Friday, works in the framework of Forum expanded can already be seen at the Canadian Embassy and the Wilde Gallery. Hamburger Bahnhof presents the solo exhibition of Heinz Emigholz.
Again this year netloungeDV gives an overview of films shot on digital video that are shown in the Forum and Panorama sections, added on with articles, trailers, and interviews – and for the first time a blog.
This year already for the fifth time, the HomeBase Independent Lounge will be the meeting place for all guests and friends of independent cinema of all Berlinale sections.
For the fifth time TV and filmfestival professionals are visiting the Berlinale on invitation of the DW Academy. This year the ten participants come from Benin, Burkina Faso, Mosambique, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia as well as from Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand.
At the International Film Festival Rotterdam Wonderful Town by Aditya Assarat was honored with a Tiger Award. Assarat is a member of this year's NETPAC Jury at the Berlinale. His film will be presented on this occasion as a Special screening in the Forum.
The 38th Forum presents RR, the newest work by James Benning, as a special screening. Prior to the Berlinale a selection of his films can be seen at cinema Arsenal.
The Best First Feature Award shows the Berlinale's commitment in supporting the next generation of filmmakers. From the Forum program 2008, ten films are nominated.
