Extraordinary documents, cinematic excavations, and intoxicating film: The 38th Forum presents ten films as Special Screenings.

Film and video experiments, exhibitions and performances: Forum expanded continues to probe the boundaries of cinema.

World-spanning young cinema: The program of the 38th Forum comprises films from 33 countries, including 32 world and international premieres.

Ahead of this year's Berlinale, the "asian hot shots berlin" festival shows earlier films of artists, who will present recent works in the Forum 2008.

2008 for the 23rd time the Caligari Film Award will be presented to a film in the Forum program. This year's winning film will be announced on February 15 during a reception at HomeBase Independent Lounge.

Ann-Kristin Reyels' 2007 Forum debut Jagdhunde received the New Voices/New Visions Award for best first or second film at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. The FIPRESCI jury awarded Armin as best film.

Accompanying an exhibition by Heinz Emigholz at Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart Berlin the Arsenal in January continues its program with films of his series "Photography and beyond". The Forum 2008 will present Emigholz' newest film Loos ornamental.

A two-months film series at cinema Arsenal in Berlin reflects the Forum's passion for American independent filmmaking. A selection of groundbreaking films span three decades of the Forum's pioneering work in this field, which brought early awareness to such filmmakers as Jim Jarmusch, Michael Moore, Gus Van Sant, and Todd Solondz.

Maria Speth's Madonnen will be theatrically released in Germany on Dec 6. In October the film was awarded the film prize of the state of Hesse.

During the annual Zurich Film Awards, Jan Gassmann's Chrigu received the main jury prize from the city of Zurich, worth 30.000 euros.
