Caligari Film Award 2006 for "37 Uses for a Dead Sheep"
The 21st Caligari Film Award for an innovative film in the Forum program was given to 37 Uses for a Dead Sheep by Ben Hopkins.
Wolfgang Staudte Award 2006 for "Babooska"
The 17th Wolfgang Staudte Award for a first or second feature length film from the Forum's main program was given to Babooska by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel. The award is endowed with 10.000 Euro.
FIPRESCI Award for "In Between Days"
The Award of the International Critics (FIPRESCI Award) for a film in the Forum was presented to In Between Days by So Yong Kim.
Additional Screening of "Am Rand der Städte"
Am Rand der Städte (On the Outskirts) by Aysun Bademsoy can be seen in an additional screening with english subtitles on Saturday, 18. February at 12 p.m. in Arsenal 2 (entry with accreditation).
A Berlinale Camera for Peter B. Schumann
Journalist Peter B. Schumann has worked on the staff of the Forum for 35 years; prior to this he was head of the Retrospective. On February 16 he was awarded a Berlinale Camera.
Greenhouse Mediterranean Film Centre launched
With a press conference during the Berlinale "Greenhouse" was launched, a training program for documentary filmmakers from the Mediterranean region. The panel consisted of CEO and repeatedly Forum participant David Fisher, and Erez Laufer, editor of this year's My Country, My Country, among others.
"hobbykeller": the Games have begun (updated)
Since its opening in the framework of Forum expanded, the new room installation by Meggie Schneider in the atrium of Filmhaus is a daily meeting point for filmakers and festival guests: Every evening from 18.00 the hobbykeller will be the place to do handicrafts, for drinking and for playing games.
DV Films at the Berlinale
Again this year netloungeDV gives an overview of films shot on digital video that are shown in the Forum and Panorama sections, added on with articles and interviews.
DW Academy at the Berlinale
For the third year already international tv- and film festival professionals are visiting the Berlinale invited by the Deutsche Welle (DW). This year's twelve participants come from Benin, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, China, Indonesia and Thailand.
Opened: Forum expanded
On February 8 Berlinale festival director Dieter Kosslick already kicked off Forum expanded at the KW. On February 9, 6 pm, Forum expanded openes in the Filmhaus at Potsdamer Platz. Until February 19, film, room and video installations will be shown.
