What does it mean to program a filmfestival if your country is at war? We talk with Yuliia Kovalenko who is part of our preview team in Odessa how the film community in the Ukraine deals with the situation.

Testimonies on the state terror of the military dictatorship in Argentina, road trips through Los Angeles during the pandemic, and a science-fiction essay on life in the Eremocene. The 53d Berlinale Forum takes place from February 16 to 26, 2023.

The first selected films and installations include works by Lei Lei, Deborah Stratman and Eduardo Williams. The Forum Expanded group exhibition will once again be presented at silent green Betonhalle. The show opens on February 15, 2023.

The Arsenal – Institute for Film and Video Art is planning to move into new premises in the silent green Kulturquartier in 2025. 

There were a number of different reasons for the naming of Kino Arsenal in 1970. One of them was the allusion to the silent film by the Ukrainian director Oleksandr Dovzhenko from 1929. We asked the author and film critic Bert Rebhandl to look at the film again from today's perspective. The result is a comprehensive research and re-examination.

The 13^th Arsenal Summer School will take place August 17–19, 2022, at Arsenal cinema and silent green, under the title "The Unique Object in an Era of Ubiquity".

Arsenal – Institute for Film and Video Art has a new board of directors: an up-to-date structure has now been put in place with Anna Mallmann as commercial director and Stefanie Schulte Strathaus as artistic director. They follow on from Milena Gregor, Birgit Kohler and Stefanie Schulte Strathaus, who have been Arsenal’s board of directors since 2004 and were responsible for guiding its course with great success.  Milena Gregor and Birgit Kohler will continue as heads of cinema programming.

The juries of CICAE and FIPRESCI, the Ecumenical jury, the juries of the Caligari Film Prize and Peace Film Prize and the TEDDY jury have awarded films from the Forum and Forum Expanded.
