Shinnosuke and his partner run a store in Tokyo that sells bonsai trees. Despite bearing the old-fashioned label 'bonsai shop', it's a modern store. One day, Shinnosuke's friend Haruko comes to the shop after being thrown out of her ex-boyfriend's house. She is training to be a beautician, but she quit her job because of an argument with her supervisor Miki about her behavior towards a client. Haruko moves in with Shinnosuke and his partner unt til she can find a new apartment. Soon afterward, Haruko finds a new boyfriend and moves out. Though Shinnosuke feels a certain affection for her, he says goodbye to her with a smile.
Haruko's new boyfriend is older than she is and quite well-off. He is very kind to her, but hides the fact that he has a wife. When Haruko finds out that he is married, she is deeply hurt and moves back in with Shinnosuke. But he now has a new girlfriend... It's not that Shinnosuke and Haruko aren't fond of each other, but the timing never seems to be rigth and so heartache prevails. The wounds inflicted by unrequited love are the subject of the formally exquisite second film by Kazama Shiori, despite being set in the noisy, relentlessly bustling world of Tokyo's urban youth.
