The successful, wheelchair-bound erotic novelist Taeko is working on a novel about a family torn apart by incest and abuse. She is helped by her young assistant Yuji, who is on a mission to investigate Taeko's past, her disability, and the secret of the locked room in her luxury apartment. Yuji takes Taeko into a nightmarish world of fiction, madness and unbearable reality. "The incest plot unfolds with violent images. Such insanity is mixed with the novel, dreams, illusions and reality. The entire movie is made up of twists, leading to the revelation of the trauma on the victim of sexual assault. "Strange Circus" returns to complete reality from fantasy when it is revealed that the assailant had been denying any wrongdoing, and has established and lived in the identity of the victim. The uncomfortable story was a device to disclose the family filth most effectively." Kang So-won
"A cruel allegory for adults. A beautiful, sad fantasy movie. The legendary actress Masumi Miyazaki makes her comeback after ten years away from the screen. And Issei Ishida delivers a fantastic performance, better than anything he's ever done before. Hiroshi Oguchi’s performance as the father rocks… I think that because I did the music myself this time, I was able to create an even stronger world. By emphasizing the color and sound so they lost any sense of reality, we produced a very mysterious mood." Kang So-won
