Under the direction of narcotics inspector DeSilva, a massive contingent of security forces goes on the hunt for Don, the head of an unscrupulous Malaysian drug mafia. DeSilva manages to track Don down. Acting on his own, he substitutes a secretly recruited double, Vijay, for the drug lord. Posing as Don, Vijay is meant to provide DeSilva with information from the mafia's innermost circles. But when DeSilva is suddenly killed, not only do the police go after Vijay, but Don's own people also starting hunting him down…
In a re-make of the 1978 Bollywood classic, superstar Shah Rukh Khan gives a shining performance in the double role. His co-star is the Indian Miss World, Priyanka Chopra. The film's dizzying quality comes not only from the dynamic plot, but above all from its quick twists. The figures' cryptic multiple identities are equally impressive. Nobody is who they appear to be – and nobody stays who they once were. The spectacular locations and the choreography of the big dance scenes also lend the film a remarkably original power. Enormously complex and multi-layered, Don keeps up its intelligent, exciting, and entertaining story-telling right up to its stunning finale.
