In this performative archival viewing, Angela Melitopoulos and Constanze Ruhm collect statements about the concept of accessing an archive. Film clips from the Forum program in 1972 are shown in a performative act of assembly as a public process of viewing. Arsenal Cinema 1 will be transformed into an editing stage, becoming the production space for a live viewing. This control room between archive, theater, and cinema will become a psycho-technical plateau with invisible entrances and exits and a few magical archival films. Coincidence, the bodily insistence of being there, and reflections on the relationship between institutional architecture and cinematographic projection will all play an important role. The invited archivists will discuss the question of access to a virtual space of programming by means of films and film clips from fiction films, documentaries, and experimental films about workers’ struggles and urban warfare, relations between the sexes, and the ties between statement and film time, always focusing on the question of access.
