ONUN HARICINDE, İYIYIM (Other Than That I’m Fine) is a letter sent by a daughter to her family from abroad. The protagonist, Aslı, is in search of a new home and feels like a guest. What she left behind is a country with a worsening socio-political situation, and that’s her dilemma. Who should stay behind and work to improve their homeland? Is it selfish to leave? The personal story connects with objects in a museum, prompting a reflection: are these objects taken for “safekeeping” an image of her future? Will she find herself in a safe and regulated environment, but living out of place, out of context?
