Forum Expanded turns 20! Over the last two decades, the section which was founded in 2006 by Stefanie Schulte Strathaus and Anselm Franke has expanded the Berlinale formally and thematically through experimental and expanded cinema, performance, installations, concerts, readings and discussions.

On the occasion of the anniversary a number of film programs provide an insight into the development of the program from its foundation to today. The film screenings at Kino Arsenal 2 present selected feature films, many of them in attendance of the filmmakers. The short film program 19 GOING ON 20 brings together short films from all 19 past festival editions and is presented three times, in three different locations (Free entry!).

In the atrium of Filmhaus, we bid farewell to Kino Arsenal on Potsdamer Platz with the installation DAS KINO PROJEKT by Franziska Pierwoss and Siska. A number of panels and discussions at silent green Kulturquartier, finally, looks both at the past and the development of Forum Expanded, as well as at its present and discusses the conditions under which exceptional, challenging and dedicated moving image art is produced and presented today.

The anniversary program is funded by the Cultural Capital Fund.
