I made this work over the one-year lockdown. During that time, while socially distancing, I often lived in a studio alone and started learning new visualization skills. Prior to this, I usually worked in hand-made crafts or in filmmaking. But I’ve never learned any other visual skills such as animation or digital visualization. In PARASITE FAMILY, there are images made by hands, as well as images produced by digital programs and even images generated by artificial intelligence. Putting all these new skills together is something new for me. Yet, in the end, I found that all the techniques—hand-made, digital, and AI-generated—are all connected, like a strange family.
