Civil Rights Activist and Filmmaker Melanie Spitta
The civil rights activist and filmmaker Melanie Spitta (1946–2005) made a total of four films with the director and producer Katrin Seybold (1943–2012). Spitta was the child of survivors of the persecution of German Sinti during the Nazi era. Following the screenings of DAS FALSCHE WORT (The Lie) (1987) Spitta’s daughter, the activist Carmen Spitta, and Petra Rosenberg, chairwoman of the Berlin-Marzahn Detention Camp Memorial, pay tribute to Melanie Spitta’s tireless political work which had to overcome many obstacles.
