Die fortlaufende Videoserie Notes to Self dokumentiert in einem simplen, repetitiven Akt unseren flüchtigen Umgang mit Status-Updates in den sozialen Medien: Erinnerungsnotizen in Form von Textfragmenten auf kleinen Zetteln werden mit wechselndem Erfolg in Brand gesteckt. Im Gegensatz zu Updates in den sozialen Medien ist das Schicksal dieser Updates kontrolliert und zeitlich begrenzt: Sie existieren nur für Sekunden, bevor sie zerstört werden. Die simple Form und Ausführung der Notizen – humoristische Gedächtnisstützen und Enthüllungen oder Erinnerungen an größere gesellschaftliche Ereignisse – ermöglichen den Zuschauer*innen einen kritischen und reflektierten Zugang.
Christina Battle, geboren 1975 in Edmonton, Kanada, ist Medienkünstlerin, Kuratorin und Dozentin. Aktuell arbeitet sie an ihrer Doktorarbeit in Art & Visual Culture an der University of Western Ontario. Ihre Arbeit wurde international auf Festivals und in Galerien gezeigt.
