| Lange Zeit waren sie enge Freundinnen: Tae-Hee, süß
und exzentrisch wie eine Katze, Hae-Joo, hübsch und zielstrebig, die
talentierte und etwas geheimnisvolle Künstlerin Ji-Young und die temperamentvollen
Bi-Ryu und Ohn-Jo. An ihrem zwanzigsten Geburtstag jedoch beginnen sich
ihre Wege zu trennen. Hae-Joo arbeitet für eine Börsenmaklerfirma
und träumt von einer Karriere als Geschäftsfrau. Tae-Hee fühlt
sich zu einem jungen, behinderten Schriftsteller hingezogen, den sie beim
freiwilligen Hilfsdienst kennen gelernt hat. Ji-Young findet eines Tages
eine streunende Katze, der sie den Namen Teetee gibt und die sich einen
Platz im Leben der fünf jungen Frauen erobert. Sie alle ähneln
dieser Katze, diesem mysteriösen und scheuen Tier, das die Einsamkeit
liebt. Doch nicht nur Teetee sorgt für unerwartete Wendungen und Probleme
in diesen fünf Leben. Jeong Jae-Eun: „Take Care of My Cat ist
ein Film mit einem ganz natürlichen Rhythmus und komplexen, tiefgründigen
Bildern. Er wurde an über siebzig Drehorten gefilmt. Das ist doppelt
so viel wie normalerweise üblich. Aber jeder Drehort besitzt eine spezielle
Bedeutung. Der Film verbindet sie: die kleinen, dunklen Straßen der
Slums mit den Hochhäusern im Stadtzentrum, das gerade modische Restaurant
mit einer überfüllten Bierhalle, den Flughafen mit dem Hafen,
der U-Bahn, den Zügen und Bussen. Menschen und Orte in Bewegung. Wie
in einem Spiegel wird so die unstete Wanderschaft der jungen Frauen wiedergegeben.“

| Take Care of My Cat Awkwardly, mysteriously, and lovingly,
the women begin to step into the world. Sweet like a cat yet eccentric Tae-Hee;
pretty but self-centered Hae-Joo; talented artist Ji-Young; lively twins
Bi-Ryu and Ohn-Jo – together they formed a circle of close-knit friends,
but as they turn 20, their paths begin to diverge. Hae-Joo works for a brokerage
firm and dreams of becoming a successful career woman. Ji-Young, who is
talented in art, dreams of studying abroad. On the other hand, Tae-Hee likes
a poet with cerebral paralysis, whom she met while doing volunteer work.
One day, Ji-Young encounters a lost cat, whom she names Teetee, and who
then enters the lives of these 20-year-olds. The women are like the cat,
a mysterious and withdrawn animal that enjoys solitude. During the time
spent with Teetee, their lives take unexpected twists and turns. Jeong Jae-Eun:
“A story with natural rhythm and deep and rich visuals, Take Care of
My Cat was shot on more than 70 locations. This is twice the average of
most films. Moreover, each location holds a sp-cial meaning. From the back
streets of the slums to downtown highrises, from a trendy restaurant to
a crowded beer hall, an airport, harbor, subway, train or bus – these
dynamic spaces connect one place to the other. As if to mirror the wandering
of 20-year-olds, all the space in Take Care of My Cat is on the move.“

Jeong Jae-Eun, geb. 1969 in Seoul. Filmstudium an der Korean National University
of Arts. Filme seit 1995, u.a. Bang Gwa Hoo (1996), For Rose (1997), Dohyung
Ilgi (1999). Take Care of My Cat ist ihr erster abendfüllender Spielfilm.
