Die Idee zu dem Film kam mir, weil ich jahrelang den Schmerz meiner Tante Zimbili Kamanga über den Verlust ihres Heims miterlebt habe. Sie war Opfer einer Vertreibung, deren Ursache die Gewalt war, die fast ein Jahrzehnt lang in Bhambayi herrschte. Ich wollte im Rahmen dieses Projektes meiner Tante die Gelegenheit geben, mit ihrer Erfahrung fertig zu werden und wieder nach vorne zu blicken. Inzwischen hat sich das einst als Kriegszone berüchtigte Bhambayi in einen lebendigen und friedlichen Ort verwandelt.

The idea of the film came about after many years of watching my aunt, Zimbili Kamanga, agonise over the loss of her house – a place that for many years was home to her. This was a forced displacement due to violence that, for almost a decade, engulfed Bhambayi, the village she lived in. It tore me apart to hear her lament about the loss. Therefore, when an opportunity arose to work on the ‘Project 10’ project, the idea crossed my mind. I wanted my aunt to find closure, healing and to be able to move on with life. Fortunately, this was possible because Bhambayi, which had gained notoriety for being a war zone ten years ago, has found its own closure. It is now a vibrant and peaceful place.
