Der ganz normale Tag eines Drogendealers. Zuerst muss er einem Sektenführer qualitativ hochwertiges Kokain bringen. Alles muss schnell gehen, denn aus Rumänien und den USA strömen zu Tausenden Anhänger herbei, um den Guru zu sehen. Ein guter alter Freund von ihm, der sich im Solarium schwerste Verbrennungen zugezogen hat, verlangt den goldenen Schuss, weil er es nicht ertragen kann, dass die Ärzte seine verbrannte Haut durch Schweinehaut ersetzen wollen. Als Gegenleistung für die Sterbehilfe verspricht er dem Dealer einen komplett ausgestatteten Fitnessraum. Barbara, eine ehemalige Klassenkameradin, die von einem älteren Diplomaten ausgehalten wird und bei sich die Drogenvorräte lagert, lässt den Dealer wissen, dass sie die Drogen nicht länger aufbewahren kann. Sie möchte noch etwas, aber dafür ist jetzt keine Zeit. Benedek Fliegauf: “Es war wichtig, eine Art hypnotische Atmosphäre zu schaffen, da der Film nicht in Budapest, sondern in einer imaginären Stadt spielt, in der eine geradezu spirituelle Atmosphäre herrscht. Dieses Nekropolis ist die eigentliche Hauptfigur. Je länger der Film läuft, desto mehr soll der Zuschauer das Gefühl haben, dass in diesem spirituellen Raum ein Mensch zwischen Leben und Tod schwebt. Die übrigen Figuren sind Geister, sonderbare Zombies, dazu verdammt, den Leidensweg des Dealers hinter marionettenhaft starren Masken zu begleiten.”

A typical day in the life of a drug dealer: First he has to bring the leader of a sect some highquality cocaine. He has to hurry because thousands of disciples are flocking in from Romania and the United States to see the guru. A close and long-standing friend who was seriously burnt in a solarium wants to OD because he can’t live with the thought that the doctors want to replace his burnt skin with that of a pig. In return for helping him to die, the man promises the dealer a complete fitness room. Barbara, a former classmate who has a relationship with an elderly diplomat and stores the dealer's stash at her house, informs him that she can no longer keep the drugs there. She wants to say something else, but there's no time. Wanda, an old flame, pleas for Depridol and is given heroin. In her drugged euphoria, she confesses to the dealer that he is the father of her taciturn daughter Bogi. Suddenly Wanda passes out and the girl has to be taken away. Barbara looks after her... Benedek Fliegauf: ”It was important to create a kind of hypnotic atmosphere because the film takes place not in Budapest, but in an imaginary city with an almost spiritual atmosphere. This necropolis is the actual main character of the film. As the film unfolds, the viewer gradually gets the impression that this person is suspended between life and death in this spiritual space. The other characters are ghosts, strange zombies condemned to follow the dealer's suffering behind rigid, marionettelike masks. The dealer's personal tragedy gradually unveils a kind of mosaic of micro-dramas.”

Benedek Fliegauf, geb. 1974 in Budapest. Ausbildung zum Bühnenbildner. Regisseur und Redakteur bei verschiedenen ungarischen Fernsehsendern. Im Forum: Rengeteg (Forest/Wildnis, 2003). Dealer ist sein zweiter abendfüllender Spielfilm.
