Produced by the Seoul Visual Collective, one of the leading independent film production companies in Korea, the film is a penetrating look at independent Korean filmmaking today. The documentary presents diverse voices and views within the filmmaking community, reflecting on the past, the present and the future of Korean independents. Are they happy when making films? How do they define independent film? Why do they still keep making independent films today, even though things have changed politically and aesthetically? What is their hope, their despair? In On-Line, the director incorporates archive footage and interviews, thus redefining Korean independent cinema which emerged as the rejection of the status quo about twenty years ago. |
