Die dokumentarische Rekonstruktion der Kämpfe vom 3. April 1948 auf der Insel Cheju, die in Korea als Ausgangspunkt für viele heutige Konflikte gesehen werden. Anhand von Zeugenaussagen der Überlebenden und mit Hilfe von Archivmaterial wird detailliert belegt, was vor rund fünfzig Jahren geschah. Cho Sung-Bong beleuchtet das Verhältnis des Syngman-Rhee-Regimes zu den US-Militärs und zeigt die Zusammenhänge, die dazu führten, daß im Zuge der antikommunistischen Hexenjagd auf Cheju ein Exempel statuiert wurde.

Considered the starting point for the conflicts occuring in modern Korean history, the Cheju island's April 3rd 1948 struggle is the central theme of this film. The significance of revelation is seen as actual testimonies of survivors and archival material depict in detail events that occurred 49 years ago. Not only does the film show how the relationship between the Rhee Syngman regime and the US military influenced this tragedy, it also shows how this was an anti-communist 'witchhunt' with Cheju-do as the sacrificial lamb.
