Rabii (Springtime), a young dancer and transvestite, is hired by Kacem, a fairground operator who has been travelling through the country with his gambling wagon for many years. His first performance takes place the moment the story begins, in the south of Morocco in villages hard hit by water shortages. It's a story about fairground operators, the last of their kind. They are a dying species of jokers. The film deals with three lives which temporarily cross: Rabii who dreams of a place less harsh, Kacem who is ill and is fleeing from a dark secret in the past which he cannot forget, and finally his only son Larbi, a former boxer and prisoner, a violent personality, a dreamer who ends up alone. The story is a bitter-sweet homage to fairground people in a country which already has many difficulties, now made worse by the drought. The earth is dying and tradition is dying, too. A people without legends is condemned to die of exposure to the cold, says the poet. But there is still hope. For Rabii. He is the most vulnerable of them all. The outsider. Even though he doesn't understand the hatred between Kacem and Larbi, he still manages to comprehend their deep loneliness. The story of friendship he experiences in a small village is only a flicker of hope. The fleeting glimpse of a white horse, galloping towards more promising times. Bygone days, bygone customs The earth is dry and the populations in the south no longer feel like spending their time on entertainers.
