des Films ist die grausame Realität: das Leben der Straßenkinder,
die in der harten Welt um sie herum sehr schnell erwachsen werden müssen.
Im Mittelpunkt des Films stehen zwei Brüder, die den Tag mit kleinen
Arbeiten verbringen müssen, um zu überleben. Der Jüngere
ist stolz auf seinen großen Bruder, der stark und mutig ist, ihn
vor Übergriffen von Taugenichtsen schützt und ihn in das Leben
einführt. Er ist sein einziges Vorbild und einziger emotionaler Halt.

and his little brother Said try to make money and survive doing odd jobs.
First they wash gravestones in cemeteries, later they sell empty bottles
to a blind liquor salesman. The empty bottles at the edge of a precipe
could mean a fortune for the boys. Bensaidi belongs to a new generation of Moroccan filmmakers who have found an alternative access to cinema und whose very diverse films document a fundamental freedom of creativity. Bensaidi observes with enthusiasm the development of Moroccan cinema in the last two generations as well as the new contact with the audience. How can national cinema be recognized internationally? / Biofilmography Faouzi Bensaidi wurde 1967 in Meknes, Marokko, geboren und lebt seit einiger Zeit in Paris, wo er wie schon zuvor in seinem Heimatland als Theaterregisseur und Schauspieler arbeitet. Er spielte außerdem in einigen Spielfilmen, u.a. in Mektoub mit. LA FALAISE ist sein erster Spielfilm. Faouzi Bensaidi was born in 1967 in Meknes, Morocco. Presently, he is living in Paris where he is working as a theatre director and actor, as he did in his native country. He also played in a number of feature films, such as in Mektoub (see information leaflet Nr. 31). LA FALAISE is his directorial debut. |
