| Die Eltern von Mariana bekämpften die Militärdiktatur in Uruguay und flohen mit ihrem Neugeborenen vor den Verfolgern nach Argentinien. Sie wußten nicht, daß die Geheimdienste beider Länder eng zusammarbeiteten. Als sie gefaßt wurden, war Mariana 18 Monate alt. Vater und Mutter gehören seither zu jenen Zehntausenden von ‘Verschwundenen’, die die Militärdiktaturen am Rio de la Plata auf dem Gewissen haben. Auch ihr Kind, das überlebte, galt lange Jahre als verschollen, bis seine Großmutter sich auf die Suche machte und sich herausstellte, daß es von dem Peiniger seiner Eltern aufgezogen worden war. Der Film dokumentiert mit Archivmaterial und Aussagen von Beteiligten das Jahr der Suche, die Intervention eines engagierten argentinischen Richters und ein konfliktreiches Wiedersehen mit Mariana, die aber nicht in Erscheinung treten wollte. |
Mariana's parents fought against the military dictatorship in Uruguay and fled from their pursuers to Argentinia with their newborn baby. They didn't know that the secret services in both countries collaborated closely. When they were caught, Mariana was 18 months old. Father and mother have since belonged to the tens of thousands of 'disappeared people' whom the military dictatorships have on their conscience. Their child survived but was presumed missing for many years until her grandmother started looking for it. It turned out that her parents' torturer raised the girl. The film documents the year of the search, using archive material and statements by involved persons, the intervention of a committed judge and a situation full of conflicts - a reunion with Mariana who didn't want to be on camera. |
