Eine Operation verwandelt der Regisseur in eine Performance, dann wieder wird der Protagonist mit Flügeln ausgestattet, weil er zeitweise meint, ein Insekt zu sein, und fliegt in Spiralbahnen durch Bombay. Der Film enthält zahlreiche Musikszenen und zeigt eine Tournee Andy McCoys durch Finnland. Andy is a romantic rock ‘n’ roll icon: the founder and lead guitarist of the most successful Finnish cult punk band ‘Hanoi Rocks’. Andy’s instinctive language is music. His gift as a songwriter and guitarist is indisputable, original, pure and passionate. Andy conjures a range of styles with great beauty and perfection: from hard core punk-rock to nostalgic flamenco. Andy’s mother tongue is Swedish, his second language is English and his third language Finnish. His life has been a patchwork of success and disaster, triumph and failure. In the middle of filming Andy fell down from a thirdfloor balcony and broke both his legs. He was forced to stay hospitalized for a month, after which he had to travel 17 weeks in a wheel chair. During his recovery Andy wrote and composed six new pieces of music for this film. The story is told through Andy’s three alter egos, which project the many sides of his personality, reflecting the conflicting forces inside him, and the relationship with his wife Angela Nicoletti. The alter egos appear throughout the film, haunting and befriending Andy’s present life, subliminally crossing the boundaries between his conscious and unconscious selves. The film explores the two opposite faces of Andy McCoy; the force of creation that fuels his talent and the force of destruction that shadows his life.
Biofilmographie / Biofilmography Nach einem Studium an der Film- und Fernsehakademie in Helsinki und der Bèla Balász-Filmschule in Budapest arbeitete *Pekka Lehto* als Regieassistent und Tonmann bei verschiedenen Spielfilmen. Sein erster eigener Film entstand 1976. Zwischen 1986 und 1988 leitete er die Produktionsabteilung der Finnish Film Foundation und war verantwortlich für die staatliche Filmproduktionsunterstützung. Er arbeitete mit der Jörn Donner Produktionsfirma und leitet zur Zeit eine der erfolgreichsten finnischen Produktionsfirmen, KinoFinlandia. After studying at the School of Film and Television in Helsinki and the Béla Balász Studio Film School in Budapest, Pekka Lehto worked as director's assistant and sound engineer on many feature films. He shot his first film in 1976. Between 1986 and 1988 he was head of production at the Finnish Film Foundation, responsible for channeling the national film production support. He has worked for Jörn Donner Productions and is presently running KinoFinlandia, one of Finland's most successful production companies.
