| Silvia Prieto ist die Geschichte einer Frau, die von der Idee besessen ist, daß es noch eine andere gibt, die genauso heißt wie sie. An ihrem 27. Geburtstag entschließt sie sich, ihr Leben zu ändern. Sie bekommt einen Job als Kellnerin und trifft sich mit ihrem Ex-Mann Marcelo, der ihr 1.200 Dollar gibt. Sie kauft sich einen Kanarienvogel und immer wieder Hühner, die sie ganz fanatisch zerkleinert. Sie lernt Brite kennen, die auf der Straße für ein Waschpulver gleichen Namens wirbt. Und die bringt sie mit Gabriel zusammen, ihrem Ex-Mann, der sich als Schulfreund von Silvias Ehemaligem entpuppt. Dann verbringt sie mit ihrem Kanarienvogel ein Wochenende in Mar del Plata, wo sie einen Italiener kennenlernt, der ihr sein Armani-Jackett leiht. Durch diese Beziehung entdeckt sie, daß sie nicht einzig ist. Ihre fragile Welt gerät aus den Fugen. Die ersten Nachforschungen werden rasch zu einem Verwirrspiel der subtilen Verrätselung zwischen Komik, Parodie und Tiefsinn. Martín Rejtman: „Die Geschichte spielt im Argentinien der 90er Jahre, in einem Land und einer Zeit, in der das Gespräch über die Identität keineswegs als banale Frage erscheint. Trotz des bewußt leichten Tons des Films glaube ich, daß die politische und soziale Realität Argentiniens dem Geschehen einen sehr speziellen Kontext der Schizophrenie verleiht: die Generation, die ihre Identität verleugnet, die Kinder der Verschwundenen, die in Gefangenschaft geboren wurden.“ |
Silvia Prieto is the story of a woman who is obsessed by the idea that another woman has the same name. On her 27th birthday she decides to change her life. She takes a job as a waitress and meets with her ex-husband Marcelo who gives her $1,200. She buys a canary, and chickens which she cuts up fanatically into little pieces. Four chickens into 48 pieces – for the refrigerator. She meets Brite who advertises washing powder on the streets and who has the same name as the soap product. Brite introduces her to Gabriel, her ex-husband who turns out to be Silvia‘s former school friend. Then she spends a weekend with her canary in Mar del Plata where she meets an Italian who lends her his Armani jacket. Through him she finds out that there is a second Silvia Prieto. Her fragile world becomes unstuck. First investigations soon turn into a confusing game of subtle riddles, moving between comedy, parody and profundity. “The topic of Silvia Prieto is identity, the dissolution of a personality. A protagonist takes the same name as the soap powder which she advertises. A doll has the same name as the main protagonist. Two women are called Silvia Prieto, there is a documentary at the end of the film in which different women are really called Silvia Prieto, they get together only because they have the same name.The story is set in Argentina in the 90s, in a country and at a time in which the question of identity is not at all banal. Despite the intentionally light mood of the film, I believe that the political and social reality of Argentina adds a sense of schizophrenia to the story: the generation which denies its identity, children of the disappeared, born in prison.” |
