Fifty-five years since Arsenal was founded, our collection now comprises some 10,000 titles, including numerous unique items. Political cinema, experimental film, independent cinema: On the basis of our institution’s living history and its global networks, our archive reflects half a century of film art. As part of contemporary projects by artists, curators and academics, films that were long invisible are now being digitalized and if need be restored. They can now reach audiences not only in Berlin, but all over the world. Some of them are returning as digital copies to where they were once produced and lost.
