'Comfort Women' nannten die Japaner jene Koreanerinnen, die sie während des Zweiten Weltkriegs zur Prostitution zwangen und die noch heute auf ihre Rehabilitierung und eine Entschädigung durch die japanische Regierung warten. In diesem ersten Teil des Films von Byun Young-Joo reden die Frauen offen über ihre Lebensgeschichten, ihre Hoffnungen und ihre Ängste, brechen damit ein Tabu, das sie fünf Jahrzehnte lang gesellschaftlich isolierte. Der neue Film Nazn moksori 2, der auf Anregung dieser Frauen 1997 entstand, läuft im Hauptprogramm. |
Nazn moksori portrays the community of 'comfort women', Korean women, thousands of whom were forced into prostitution by the Japanese army during World War II. Up to seven years ago the fate of 'comfort women' was a topic of taboo in Korea. These women were ostracized and detested by their own families and by society. ''I had heard about 'comfort women' in grade school, but didn't think that their fate concerned me. Only when I saw the coming-out of one of these women on television, I felt ashamed. Indeed, their life is comparable to a normal Korean woman. In this country, there is an unbelievable number of rapes.'' Byun Young-Joo |
